little known facts...

... I have a love of comic books and graphic novels. Partly for the different means of telling a story, partly because I'm a very visual person and I love to see how others imagine things.

I also know who Wizards of the Coast are but I'm not a gamer, but that's for another time.

Today I discovered the work of Tim Mcburnie and I recommend you do too. He has been working for the last 5 years in the French comic book scene, where comic books have a very different rep.

Having worked on a variety of projects, his current work on a fantasy comic is what has caught my attention.

I chose to show these three images as an example of his representation of women. I love the strength and complexity of the character, like they have distinct stories all of their own. That can still be hard to find...

If you want to see more of his work you can find it either on his portfolio or his blog.

Banksy the movie

Just a quick blog as I have heard that there will be a Banksy movie.

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, Banksy is a graffiti artist from the UK and you can read more about his work here.

This is one of my favourites.

…I will bring you rain…the winter queen spoke her word-bond to the summer king…who responded with his silence and with his fires uncontrollable and fierce…

Go well, Nerys

I have taken this directly from the DUST team blog, as I wrote it earlier this week.

"It is with great saddness that I write this. On friday morning/thursday evening a most amazing lady passed away. Nerys was very much the main force behind this revamped version of the DUST team and has been there for many of us when we were new to DUST and etsy and feeling very lost.

Always young at heart, Nerys has been travelling throughout Australia for the past 15 years with her husband. Her passion for creating, whole foods, the healing properties of herbs and essential oils as well as her wisdom and generous soul will be well remembered, she will be missed greatly.
Nerys wished that people would send donations to the Royal Flying doctor in place of flowers. The ceremony was at 4pm Wed 20th at the Bunbury crematorium."

For me, her blog and the blog she shared with a friend have been vital reading. Her life has been such an inspiration to me, I can't see that stopping any time soon.
