This has been a bandwagon I have been wanting to jump on for the last 2 months... but have been distracted by life, the universe and everything in a most wonderful way :)

a market, a festival, a life

Wow, everything moves really fast. I didn't realise how busy I had been with the fringe until I noticed how little beading I had done, or how messing the house was! But all is good, the fringe has been a wonderful success for everyone I know who has been involved.
So, as life keeps on moving on, so do I. I will be joining my good friend Hellena Post with a stall and the Willunga Waldorf School Autumn Fair on Saturday the 4th of April, 10-4. Please come by and say 'hi' if you're in the area, it should be a lovely day!
And I will be joining my partner-in-crime in Canberra for the National Folk Festival. He will be drumming for the members of Saffron Tribal Belly Dance and it promises to be quite an event. I am hoping to make myself useful, helping with costumes and the 'rocking of turbans'. They are definitely not as easy as the look!
And I hope to post some photo's of my newest beading work in a few days. Bug me if I don't, ok?

Busy, busy... busy,busy!

It has been a long time between posts but this post should make up for it! On Saturday a few friends and I hosted a fashion parade, with more than a few differences called Tribal Fibres: a percussive catwalk. The models were tribal belly dancers from the South Australian tribal belly dance community. The Clothing was work by Hellena Post - hand dyed, spun and crocheted creations,
and work by the Lizard Queen - one of a kind clothing and wings made from second hand and recycled fabric and clothing,and my jewellery. And we had live musicians consisting of Grasshopper with Dylan and Kira playing flutes and Rowan on Saxophone. We had a splendid night with lots of sales, a packed house, lovely food and so much fun! Thank you everyone who contributed to making this night special.

And tonight I will be having a stall at the Free Fringe Family Frivolities event at the Hahndorf Academy, from 6:30 till 9 pm. I hope to see you there as it will be quite an event - stalls, food, music!

Victorian bushfire fire appeal

Do you know what I love most about humans? It's our ability to band together in crisis. Even when we have very little we help those around us in great need.
After much discussion amongst the etsy DUST team one of the members, feliciafairy, set up a shop where any etsy seller can donate an item with all profits going to the Red Cross.
They have already raised over $700.

Grasshopper news!

Somehow, I haven't melted. After a week of 40 degree weather I am finally feeling like its summer. That may sound strange, but this is the way it works in South Australia, we are supposed to melt in a record-breaking heatwave. That said, the 47 degrees on Wednesday was too much. And that was the day the Grasshopper boys got together for their promo photos. As you can see, their photographer Sienna Dean did an amazing job. Its going to be a busy couple of months for Grasshopper as the festival season starts here in South Australia. You will be able to see them every weekend of the Fringe at various venues, check out their facebook or myspace pages for their upcoming gigs and busking updates! They love to hit the street and stir up the night life with their crazy rhythms and outrageous energy!

When I first found etsy Gaea was the shop that got me there. I had been researching clay beads while I was studying a TAFE and I found her work through a website called beads of clay, a site that is home to ceramic bead artists who are interested in

working together to promote artisan ceramic beads. Here are just two of her lovely designs.

Another seller I found very early on who has inspired me is fellow Adelaidian realisationcreations. Her combination of vintage beads and high quality gems has often left me breathless.
She also makes amazing treasuries and has been very helpful to me and I'm sure many other DUST team members.
